Suzhou (China) throughput surges 69pc in January
China's Suzhou port recorded a container throughput of 138,000 TEU in January, an increase of 69.1 per cent year on year, Xinhua reports.
The Zhangjiagang port area contributed 47,000 TEU to the total volume, representing growth of 21.67 per cent year on year.
The Changshu port area handled 22,000 TEU, up 88 per cent, while the Taicang port area handled 69,000 TEU, a 120 per cent increase.
The total cargo throughput of Suzhou port surged 35.76 per cent to 14.13 million tons in January, including 9.43 million tons handled by the Zhangjiagang port area, 2.52 million tons by the Changshu port area and 2.18 million tons by the Taicang port area. This represented growth of 34.9 per cent, 31.6 per cent and 45 per cent year on year respectively.
