Celtic Mist owner considers ITF agreement
Jay Management, owner of the ro-pax Celtic Mist currently embroiled in a dispute over crew and ship condition in Southampton, has indicated that it will consider an ITF agreement when all the current problems are resolved. Tommy Molloy, the ITF inspector in the case, told Fairplay today that “another four crew members have been paid and are being repatriated, with others to follow on Sunday and after.” Molloy today met Jay’s managing director and discussed all the current issues. The 1987-built, 22,874gt Cyprus-flagged vessel is lined up to operate a daily freight ro-ro service between Cherbourg and Portsmouth on charter to CelticLink Ferries. “There continues to be a lot of work going on to bring the ship up to condition”, Molloy added. “Jay Management has said it will consider taking out an ITF agreement for the crew when all the work is completed.” The owner had previously indicated that it could not afford this arrangement.
