Russia fishing schooner in distress at S Kuriles, 12 crew rescued
The Russian fishing schooner Serio Maru-28 has got a hole near the South Kuriles at 06:20 a.m., local time, Monday (11:20, Moscow time, Sunday). Twelve crewmembers of the vessel survived using life rafts. They were picked up by another Russian schooner - Vakhau Maru.
The shipwreck was caused by a storm. The schooner was swept by storm waves and carried away from its anchor place in the Shirokaya Bay of the Yuri Island of the small Kuriles chain.
