MOL to introduce US-South America service
Japanese shipping giant MOL says it plans to soon begin a new direct service between the east coast of South America and the US.
The new Americas Container Express (ACX) service is intended to replace MOL's existing AXL service, as the ACX will provide wider port coverage on the east coast of South America by adding calls at Buenos Aires, Salvador in Brazil to and from Baltimore.
The ACX will make the following calls at: Buenos Aires, Rio Grande, Sao Francisco do Sul, Santos in Salvador; Norfolk, Virginia; Philadelphia, New York and Baltimore.
The new ACX service will make its first northbound call to Brazil in mid-April by which time the AXL service will have been phased out as it is scheduled to make its last northbound call at Santos on April 13, a company statement said.
