Nanning to become a regional logistics hub for Asean trade
Authorities in the Guangxi autonomous region aim to develop the capital city of Nanning into an international logistics base for the region to serve the trade with Asean member nations, Xinhua reports.
Aside from developing a regional logistics hub in Guangxi, authorities will also establish a commercial and trade base, a cargo processing and manufacturing base, and an information exchange centre for Sino-Asean trade.
In a bid to extend port services to inland areas, Guangxi will set up inland customs checkpoint and large bonded centre in Nanning, which will also be connected to logistics centres in Yulin, Congzuo and Beihai.
Authorities in Guangxi have so far applied to the General Administration of Customs and the State Council for permission to create a bonded logistics and export processing zone in Nanning, the report said.
Some experts note that Nanning has great potential to develop its logistics industry as it is located within the Asean economic circle, the South China economic circle and the southwest China economic circle, and has two industrial bases, Liuzhou and Guilin to the north, and new coastal industrial bases to the south.
