Cargo turnover of the port of Arkhangelsk down 13% in Jan.-Feb. 07, y-o-y
In January-February 2007, cargo turnover of the port of Arkhangelsk decreased 13%, year-on-year, to 601.3 thou tons, PortNews IAA learnt from the Administration of Arkhangelsk Seaport. Over the reported period, the port’s stevedoring companies received 47.035 thou tons of cargo (+ 16.2%, year-on-year) including 33.165 thou tons of import cargo (+ 22.4%), 13.869 thou tons of coastal trade cargo (+3.6%). Import included 5.908 thou tons of containerized cargo (- 43.6%), 0.165 thou tons of machines and equipment (-69.2%), 27.092 thou tons of other general cargo (+68.4%). Incoming coastal trade cargo 13.867 thou tons of general cargo (+3.6%).
Besides, in the two-month period the port of Arkhangelsk dispatched 554.264 thou tons of cargo (- 14.8%). Export amounted to 102.375 thou tons (- 43.9%), coastal trade cargo – 451.888 thou tons (- 3.4%). Export consisted of 6.259 thou tons (+85.1%) of containerized cargo, 64.150 thou tons of timber (+1.9%), 20.146 thou tons of metal scrap (-24.6%), 8.559 thou tons of cellulose (-51.2%), 2.664 thou tons of cardboard and paper (-67.8%). Transshipment of other general cargo totaled 0. 024 thou tons (13.7 times less compared to January-February 2006). Outgoing coastal trade cargo included 390.047 thou tons of oil and oil products (- 8.9%), 2.085 thou tons of machines and equipment (+75.8%), 187.77 thou tons of metal (+5.3%), 8.203 thou tons of other general cargo (+69%). Container turnover totaled 32.774 thou tons (2-fold increase, year-on-year).
