First grain shipment via Sabetta port expected in July 2020 – RF Ministry of Agriculture
When visiting the Omsk Region on 16 October 2019, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut held a working meeting with the BoD members of Logistics Company “Grain of Siberia” JSC, representatives of Russian Agricultural Bank JSC and Russia’s largest grain exporters. They discussed export potential of the Omsk Region and logistics of products transportation. As of today, the most promising are the following routes: southern route supported by the Ministry from February 2019, Far East route to be covered by the state in the future and shipments via Sabetta port on the Yamal peninsula with the first one expected in July 2020, the Ministry says in a press release.
By 2024, exports of agricultural products from the Omsk Region are expected to more than triple to $359 million including more than $80 million tonnes of grain.
The growth will be particularly driven by Grain of Siberia company established in September of the current year by the Government of the Omsk Region and the largest players of the regional agricultural market cultivating more than 70% of the region’s agricultural land. The company’s key targets are to improve efficiency of the segment, enhancement of production, exports of farm surpluses and other activities including establishment of its ow logistic route via Sabetta port and along the Northern Sea Route to the countries of the Asia-Pacific Region.
