NIBULON’s fleet demonstrates first record indices in new marketing year
In the first quarter of 2019/20 MY, NIBULON’s fleet transported a record number of cargoes (more than 971 thousand tons) as opposed to the same periods in previous years.
At present, NIBULON’s shipping company, besides grain crops, transports other types of cargoes, in particular watermelons, building materials (sand, piles, and concrete plates), various types of fertilizers, etc. It is going to extend the range of cargoes to be transported by the Ukrainian inland waterways.
The company also demonstrates other achievements. During the first three months of the current marketing year, the company’s fleet managed to transship for exports a record number of agricultural commodities – more than 770 thousand tons which is by 4 % more than in 2018/19 MY.
In addition, the company achieved the highest index in transshipping grain for exports by the fleet, based on monthly results. In August, the shipping company transshipped more than 325 thousand tons, demonstrating a record result for the first time since its operation.
The company does not stop at what has been accomplished. Having put into operation its high-capacity NIBULON MAX 140-m floating vessel in September 2019, NIBULON managed to increase the annual cargo transshipment by fleet by 2-3 million tons and to increase cargo transshipment by NIBULON’s fleet up to 5-6 million tons per year.
We would remind you that since 2019, NIBULON, supporting by the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Finance Corporation and other international financial institutions, has been successfully implementing its investment project to revive the Dnipro and the Southern Buh Rivers as main transport arteries in Ukraine. As part of this program, the company constructs transshipment terminals along the Dnipro River in close proximity to agricultural producers, reconstructs and modernizes its own shipbuilding and repair yard, constructs complete modern vessels and revives navigation on the Ukrainian rivers. The company dredges the river areas that were unnavigable earlier.
Due to the company’s comprehensive approach to implement its investment project, NIBULON’s shipping company transported more than 3.5 million tons of cargoes (a record figure) by inland waterways in Ukraine in 2018/19 MY. During its operation from 2009 till October 1, 2019, NIBULON’s shipping company transported more than 15.7 million tons of various cargoes, thereby removing more than 650 thousand trucks from highways.
Consequently, NIBULON does everything to make Ukraine a maritime state and to accomplish one of its strategic tasks, namely to reduce anthropogenic impact on the Ukrainian highways. The river resources, a huge potential of our country, must be used for the development of Ukraine’s economy, as they are used worldwide.
