Seaports of Antwerp and Saint-Petersburg exchanged personnel training experience
Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg JSC (SP SPb) has been visited by a delegation from the port of Antwerp which included Philippe Droesbeke (Port of Antwerp International) and Daria Lansink (APEC). According to the press release of SP SPb, the delegation was accompanied by Consul General of the Kingdom of Belgium in St. Petersburg Hans Timbermont, Consul Marie Huberlant and Acting Head of Flanders Investment & Trade office in Saint-Petersburg Dmitry Gusakov.
The purpose of the visit was the development of business relations, exchange of experience in training of port specialists and the search for forms of cooperation in this area.
“We strive to arrange meetings of Belgium entrepreneurs with Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg management as often as possible since our countries are close trading partners, – said Dmitry Gusakov. – Subdivisions of the ports of Antwerp and Saint-Petersburg responsible for training and consulting will create additional points of common interests”.
The guests were greeted by Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg Commercial Director Aleksey Vazhov and Special Education Manager Anatoly Rezyuk. Following the tour around the berths, they welcomed the visitors to the Training Center of Marine Recruiting Agency, subsidiary of Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg specializing in industry-specific training of personnel.
“High qualification of specialists is the key prerequisite of business development, – said Aleksey Vazhov, – therefore, we consider it crucial to invest in the development of personnel and, consequently, in the development of Marine Recruiting Agency”.
In his turn, Anatoly Rezyuk told about the Agency’s international educational projects and its special programmes for professional retraining of port workers developed to the order of employment centres in Kazakhstan and Estonia.
“The Agency is set to enter the market of Western Europe and the assistance of our Belgium colleagues is of great importance for us”, – emphasized Anatoly Rezyuk.
A unique interactive simulator facility precisely duplicating the operation of cranes aroused special interest of the guests. The facility lets model the process with real-life conditions and analyze each action of a crane operator. The Consul General was delighted to try the simulator and highly praised the equipment of the Marine Recruiting Agency’s Training Center.
Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg JSC is the largest operator rendering services on handling of all types of dry cargoes at Big Port St. Petersburg. It operates modern multipurpose specialized terminals for handling of general and bulk cargoes and specialized terminals for ro-ro cargoes and containers. In 2018, the company handled 7.7 million tonnes of cargo.
