Vympel DB develops concept design for Arctic cruise ship
Vympel Design Bureau JSC (a company of United Shipbuilding Corporation) has developed a concept of an Arctic cruise ship for high latitude waters, Sergey Milavin, Deputy General Director for Designing, Chief Designer, Vympel Design Bureau, said at the 3rd international conference “Development of Icebreaking and Support Fleet” organized by IAA PortNews and held in Saint-Petersburg on the zero-day of the Neva-2019.
According to him, the design is at the initial stage while a high demand is forecast for such vessels.
Currently, Arctic cruises in Russia involve icebreakers not designed for accommodation of cruise passengers.
Vympel Design Bureau JSC is a multi-profile organization designing vessels and floating structures of any complexity. For more than 85 years of operation, Vympel has developed more than 540 designs used for construction of over 6,500 vessels. As of today, about 15 shipyards in Russia and abroad are working with 13 designs of Vympel.
