Atomenergomash JSC and Aker Arctic Technology Inc sign memorandum of understanding
Atomenergomash JSC and Aker Arctic Technology Inc signed a memorandum of understanding, Aker Arctic says in a press release.
The prospective development of the market for the design of various types of vessels and project management determines the need for close cooperation between manufacturing companies and design offices specializing in this direction.
On June 13, 2019 in St. Petersburg, First Deputy General Director for Atomic Energy and New Businesses of Atomenergomash JSC Alexander Rantsev and the Managing Director of Aker Arctic Technology Inc Reko-Antti Suojanen signed a memorandum of understanding.
Aker Arctic Technology Inc is a privately owned Finnish company specializing in the development of technology and design for ice-going vessels, icebreakers, offshore structures, marine transport systems and ports. Aker Arctic Technology Inc works with the owners and operators of ice going fleet and the world’s largest shipbuilding leaders, providing services in designing icebreaking vessels, offshore structures, ice model and field tests.
Cooperation within the framework of the memorandum will be carried out primarily in the following areas:
– design of optimized floating nuclear power units (OPEB)
– initial assessment of technical and economic parameters of floating power plants on LNG fuel to make the issue of starting the design for investment decision-making bodies, including the evaluation of CAPEX and OPEX and the determination of optimal solutions
– development to create a new design and construction of a semi-submersible ice-class transport ships for the heavy and oversized cargo
– development to create a new design and construction of ice-class container ships for year-round navigation along the Northern Sea Route .
The parties identified the roles and methods of cooperation, as well as mutually beneficial promising projects.
