Taganrog Sea Commercial Port’s allocations for environmental programme totaled USD 28,200 in1Q’19, up 5% YoY
In the first quarter of 2019, Taganrog Sea Commercial Port (TagSCP, a company of UCL Holding) allocated USD 28,200 for implementation of its environmental programme, 5% more as compared with the same period of the previous year.
The company is constantly improving its production processes towards minimization of a negative impact on the environment, conducts monitoring of key indicators of the company’s ecosphere footprint, performs port’s ambient air and water area monitoring, controls the amount of waste.
In the reporting period, the company performed works on designing of storm flow treatment system and embarked on construction of treatment facilities. This project is focused on stabilization and gradual improvement of environment in the zone of possible influence of the company on water bodies.
To prevent pollution of water resources the company conducts regular monitoring of sea water quality and its bacteriological study, monitors water body buffer zone and coastal buffer zone. For prevention of possible entry of oil products into the water body, the port ensures permanent readiness of the emergency response team to oil spill response activities. Besides, water area is protected against pollution by obligatory placement of floating guard booms around vessels involved in loading/unloading of oil cargo as well as through regular upgrading and hermetization of berths’ pavement.
As part of air protection activities, the company performed systematic air pollution measurements and analysis of samples taken at workplaces and in residential areas neighboring the port territory according to an approved schedule. The monitoring performed in the first quarter of 2019 confirmed compliance of air quality with the standards.
To comply with the sanitary-epidemiological requirements on industrial waste management the company ensured timely removal of waste from its territory and its disposal.
