Taganrog Sea Commercial Port handled 1.25 million tonnes of cargo in 2018, down 21% YoY
In 2018, Taganrog Sea Commercial Port (TagSCP, a company of UCL Port) handled 1.25 million tonnes of cargo, down 21% as compared with the result of 2017. The company attributes the decrease to business decline in foreign trade markets dealing with the port’s key types of cargo, coal and metal, and to seasonal shift of oil cargo to river ports.
Handling of general cargo fell by 18% to 180,000 tonnes. Transshipment cargo in big-bags dropped by 36% to 70,000 tonnes. Handling of ferrous metal was flat, year-on-year, at 111,000 tonnes.
Negative dynamics was also by dry bulk and loose cargo – 990,000 tonnes (down 21%, year-on-year). Handling of grain decreased by 14% to 340,000 tonnes. Transshipment of coal and pet coke dropped by 26% and 65% to 556,000 tonnes and 11,000 tonnes accordingly. Ore transshipment climbed by 4% to 80,000 tonnes.
Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo fell by 25% to 75,000 tonnes.
Container throughput of TagSCP totaled 1,800 TEU, down 37% versus 2017.
In the 12-month period, TagSCP handled 1 million tonnes of export cargo and 95,000 tonnes of import cargo. Coastal trade cargo handling totaled 147,000 tonnes. Exports and imports accounted for 80% and 8% of the company’s total throughput with domestic shipments making 12%. In the reporting period, Taganrog Sea Commercial Port handled 14,141 railcars and 314 vessels.

The company operates at the port’s Berths No 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8. In 2017, TSCP handled 1.59 million tonnes of cargo.
