Northern Fleet detachment completes distant voyage and arrives in Severomorsk
Today warships and support vessels of the Northern Fleet have been welcomed at the Severomorsk main base, says press center of RF Defence Ministry. The detachment has returned after a long voyage in the Mediterranean Sea and the seas of the Atlantic Ocean. The detachment is made up of the missile cruiser Marshal Ustinov, the tanker Dubna and the rescue tug SB-406.
Commander of Northern Fleet Admiral Nikolay Evmenov received reports on successful implementation of the missions.
A solemn welcome ceremony took place at the Severomorsk base of surface ships of the Northern Fleet.
The Commander of the Fleet congratulated seamen who took part in the long-distance voyage on successful fulfillment of the assigned tasks and returning home. He noted that "during the long-distance voyage, dozens of planned combat training activities, hundreds of naval exercises and training sessions were completed."
Admiral Nikolai Evmenov reported that “during the voyage, the missile cruiser Marshal Ustinov represented the Northern Fleet at the Main Naval Parade at the Kronstadt raid, took part in the inter-fleet exercise of the Russian Navy in the Baltic Sea; the exercise of the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean was supervised from the board of the Northern Fleet's cruiser. "
The Commander of the Northern Fleet stressed that "the command of the campaign did a great job in introducing new forms and methods of using weapons and tactics at sea, taking into account features of modern armed conflicts and existing threats."
In the Mediterranean, the missile cruiser Marshal Ustinov performed tasks from August 11 to November 12. Severomorsk seamen took part in a number of joint activities with the ships of the Russian Navy group operating in the Mediterranean on a permanent basis.
During the distant voyage, a crew of the Russian cruiser conducted a series of exercises on anti-submarine and anti-aircraft defence, as well as to train providing assistance to those in distress at sea.
