RF Navy's training ship Perekop returns from distant cruise
The training ship Perekop of the Russian Navy will arrive in St. Petersburg on November 14, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.
Official ceremony to welcome cadets of naval schools will take place under supervision of the Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Vladimir Korolyov. It is also planned that the event will be attended by representatives of the administration of St. Petersburg, leadership of the Russian Geographical Society headquarters in St. Petersburg, students of the Nakhimov Naval School and students of the Naval Institute - the Marine Corps of Peter the Great.
On the eve of welcoming ceremony, Admiral Vladimir Korolyov noted that the training ship cruise planned by the Main Command of the Russian Navy was the first in the modern history of the Navy to have a number of features.
"It is the first time in contemporary history as the training ship made a cruise round Eurasia. It is the first time since the times of Nicholas Miklouho-Maclay Russian seamen made a call at the port of Papua New Guinea. It is the first time as the training ship of the Russian Navy sailed along the Northern Sea Route, which allowed the cadets to gain real experience of navigation in the Arctic latitudes ”, said Admiral Vladimir Korolyov.
