USC has at hand an Arctic cruise ship concept: Alexey Rakhmanov
United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) has a concept design of an Arctic expedition cruise vessel, the USC head said.
Alexei Rakhmanov, President of the shipbuilding corporation said about the concept at a joint meeting of Expert Council under the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship and the Committee for the Shipbuilding Industry and Marine Engineering of the Russian Engineering Union. The meeting was named Outook for Cruise Expeditions in High Latitudes", the State Duma press office said.
“The expedition cruises, including in the Arctic, will become a trend. And we have already seen that this segment shows faster growth than the rest of the cruise market, the tickets are commonly sold out six months ahead of the cruise departures,” said Alexei Rakhmanov.
He also added that he did not doubt “the Arctic expedition cruises are promising and significant for our country. I am sure that there will be customers for building vessels for such cruise.”
