Russian Railways' network loading up 2.9% to 857.8 million tonnes in 8M’18
In January-August 2018, the network of Russian Railways loaded 857.8 million tonnes of cargo, up 2.9%, year-on-year, the Company’s press center says.
In the reporting period the railways shipped the following goods: coal – 247 million tonnes (+5.4% year-on-year); coke – 7.3 million tonnes (-3.2%); crude oil and oil products – 156.7 million tonnes (no change); iron and manganese ore – 77.3 million tonnes (+5.4%); ferrous metal – 52.5 million tonnes (+10.8%); ferrous metal scrap – 10 million tonnes (+1.2%); chemical and mineral fertilizers – 39.5 million tonnes (+4.1%); cement – 17.2 million tonnes (-6.8%); timber – 31.2 million tonnes (+3.8%); grain – 17.9 million tonnes (+44.1%); construction cargo – 85.2 million tonnes (-5.6%); non-ferrous ore and sulphur feedstock – 13.5 million tonnes (-2%); chemicals and soda – 17.7 million tonnes (+2.3%); industrial feedstock and moulded materials – 23.8 million tonnes (-2.5%).
From the beginning of the year, freight turnover totaled 1,718.6 billion tariff ton-km (+4.6%). Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon run – 2,186.7 billion ton-km (+4.4%).
In August, loading totaled 108.4 million tonnes (+2%, year-on-year).
Freight turnover in August grew by 4.4% to 217.9 billion tariff ton-km. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon run grew by 4.2% to 276.5 billion ton-km.
