Sovcomflot’s shuttle tanker Governor Farkhutdinov ships 600th crude oil cargo for Sakhalin-2
On 14 August 2018, Sovcomflot’s shuttle tanker Governor Farkhutdinov loaded the milestone 600th cargo of crude oil from Sakhalin-2. The 96,000 tonnes of cargo is for delivery to the port of Quanzhou, China, the company announces in its press release.
Sovcomflot Group operates regular large-capacity oil shipments under the Sakhalin-2 project using three Aframax-size shuttle tankers: Governor Farkhutdinov; Zaliv Aniva; and Sakhalin Island. All the vessels have a 1C ice class, which facilitates safe oil transportation in the challenging ice conditions of the Sea of Okhotsk. In total, Sovcomflot’s tankers have shipped close to 53.8 million tonnes of oil since the year-round shipments of Sakhalin-2 oil commenced in 2008.
Overall, Sovcomflot operates 12 vessels for Sakhalin-2. In addition to the three shuttle tankers, the vessels also include seven icebreaking supply and standby vessels, as well as two LNG carriers (in partnership with NYK). All vessels operate under long-term time charter agreements with Sakhalin Energy.
