Main Naval Parade took place in St. Petersburg and Kronstadt to mark Navy Day
On July 29, the Russian Federation marked the Navy Day with the Main Naval Parade in historical part of the St. Petersburg in the Neva River, and in the oldest naval base of the Russian Navy – Kronstadt, says press center of RF Ministry of Defence.
Warships of Baltic, Northern and Black Sea fleets as well as Caspian Flotilla made up the parade line-up.
The parade involved over 40 warships, 38 aircraft of the Naval Air Force, and some 4,000 troops. Most of the warships have upgraded performance characteristics and more comfortable conditions for personnel. Among them there are small-size missile ship Uragan and intelligence ship Ivan Khurs.
Moored to parade buoys, the following ships made the line-up: frigate Admiral Makarov (Black Sea Fleet), corvette Soobrazitelny (Baltic Fleet), diesel-electric submarine Dmitrov, major amphibious ship Minsk, and small-size ASW ship Kazanets.
At the beginning of the waterway, waterway Marshal Ustinov and SSBN Orel were moored in the Kronstadt harbour.
Guest of the parade also saw naval task groups in parade column including modern warships such as frigate Admiral Gorshkov, major amphibious ship Ivan Gren, corvette Boiky, minesweeper Alexander Obukhov, small-size missile ships Uragan and Serpukhov, counter-saboteur boats Grachonok and patrol vessels of Raptor type. A new unmanned boat escorted the minesweeper Alexander Obukhov.
The small-size missile ship Project 22800 Uragan has the Orlan unmanned aerial vehicle on board adopted to be used by a surface ships.
A parade flypast over Kronstadt and St. Petersburg was performed by Su-30SM 4+ generation fighter jets, Il-38N and Tu-142M3 ASW airplanes, Su-33 and MiG29Kseaborne fighter jets, Tu-142MR, Su-24MR, Su-24M, Su-25 airplanes, and Ka-29, Ka-28, Ka-27M, Ka-31R and Mi-8 helicopters.
