Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex will annually process over 300,000 tonnes of metal by 2024
By 2024, Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex is to become Russia’s leading shipbuilding facility in terms of metal processing with annual processing of over 300,000 tonnes of metal, which is to become possible through cooperation with European and Asian companies, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Andrey Shishkin, Vice-President for Energy, Localization and Innovation of Rosneft, as saying at the International Far East Maritime Show (Vladivistok).
According to him, the project on construction Zvezda is being implemented in compliance with the schedule. The dry dock will be completed in early 2020. The first ship in a series of four supply ships will be delivered in 2019. Apart from Arctic class supply ships, the shipyard’s backlog includes orders for construction of four port icebreakers, 10 Aframax tankers and 10 Arctic shuttle tankers.
Besides, Zvezda hopes to secure the contract for construction of the Leader icebreaker.
Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex located in Bolshoy Kamen, Primorsky Region, is being created on the base of Zvezda Far-Eastern Plant by a consortium of Rosneftegaz, Rosneft and Gazprombank. The shipbuilding complex design provides for the construction of a heavy outfitting berth, a dry dock, full-cycle production shops, and shops for the construction of offshore marine facilities.
