Construction of Zhatai Shipyard in Yakutia to be completed in 2024
Zhatai Shipyard in Yakutia is not to be put into operation before 2024, IAA PortNews correspondent cites Aleksandr Timofeyev, Deputy Head of the Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Department, RF Ministry of Industry and Trade, as saying at the International Far East Maritime Show (Vladivistok).
The project on construction of Zhatai Shipyard estimated at RUB 4.5 billion is beig implemented as part of the state programme for social and economic development of the Arctic. The project is currently undergoing state expert approval procedure which is to be completed by the end of 2018.
The shipyard is to be built at the premises of Zhatai ship-building and ship-repairing facility with materials and components of domestic origin (100%).
According to the official, the new shipyard will be loaded with shipbuilding orders including river tankers among the first orders. “It is early to speak about the production volumes”, he added.
