Vostochny Port purchased four snow generators
Vostochny Port, the largest Russian specialized port with hi-tech coal transshipment and a member of the coal port holding “Managing Port Company,” says it has purchased four new snow generators as part of the environmental protection campaign.
The equipment with a total cost of more than 50 million rubles was purchased in addition to the presently running dust suppression machines, including a snow generator, sweeping vacuum cleaning machines, “dry mist” dust suppression systems, coal store sprinklers, and air treatment and aspiration systems.
The new snow generators will start working this winter and will be operated all year round. In winter, they will generate a protection coating for the coal piles, and in summer, they will spray the piles with water.
The water - utilized for the machines operation - is fed through the multilevel filtration system. There are eight treatment plants - which collect and purify process and storm waters - within the premises of “Vostochny Port.” JSC “Vostochny Port” is the only one company in Primorsky Region that owns water treatment plants.
“Vostochny Port” has developed and is presently implementing a plan of additional environmental protection measures to introduce gradually the best available coal transshipment technologies. By 2021, the port holding shall invest more than one (1) billion rubles in the environmental protection campaign.
The strategy implies the retrofitting and installation of the additional dust collecting and suppression process equipment. The company’s own accredited laboratory will continue regular environment monitoring to control the atmospheric air, industrial waters and waters of Vrangel bay.
The environmental protection campaign pursued by the stevedoring company is complied with the agreements for favorable environmental conditions during coal handling operations made with Rosmorrechflot, Rosprirodnadzor, Rosgydromet, Administration of Primorye Region and Administration of Nakhodka Municipality in March and May 2018.
JSC “Vostochny Port” is the first coal port in the Far East that obtained a certificate of compliance with ISO 14001:2015 “Environmental Management System: Requirements and Application Guide.”
Within the period from 2012 until 2017, “Managing Port Company, LLC” and JSC “Vostochny Port” invested 1.2 billion rubles in the retrofitting of the equipment, treatment plants and wind shields, the replenishment of marine bio resources and ecological campaigns.
