Port of Klaipeda (Lithuania) handled 22.2 million tonnes of cargo in 6M'18, up 7.6% Y-o-Y
Freight volume handled at the Port of Klaipeda, Lithuania, in January-June 2018 grew by 7.6%, year-on-year, to 22.2 million tonnes, the Port Authority statistics said. Container throughput totaled 74,370 TEUs.
In the reporting period, the port serviced 143,180 passengers, up 1% year-on-year.
The number of calls totaled 3,257 (+0.4%).
State-run Port of Klaipeda, the northernmost ice-free port on the East coast of the Baltic Sea, is the largest Lithuanian transport hub, connecting sea and inland traffic lanes. There are 17 stevedore companies, shipyards and other operators at the port, providing a broad range of services. Throughput of Klaipeda port in 2017 totaled 43.17 million tonnes.
