Throughput of port Azov up 47% to 5.66 million tonnes in Jan-June’2018
In January-June 2018, seaport of Azov handled 5.665 million tonnes of cargo (+47%, year-on-year).
According to the stevedoring companies’ statistics, internal turnover of Azov seaport grew by 55% to 4.734 million tonnes. Exports grew by 24% to 2.361 million tonnes, imports – by 8% to 188,000 tonnes, short-sea traffic – 2.3 times to 2.184 million tonnes, transit – by 16% to 931,000 tonnes.
In the reporting period, grain transshipment grew by 73% to 3.706 million tonnes, oil products – by 14% to 1.133 million tonnes, coal – by 43% to 560,000 tonnes.
Turnover of vessels at the port of Azov grew to 1,842 arrivals and 1,848 departures vs 1,391 arrivals and 1,429 departures a year ago.
Port of Azov is situated on the banks of the Don river. It is the main gateway between the Mediterranean Sea with the inland waterways of Russia and the Caspian Sea, for freight flows to the central part of Russia, the Urals and Central Asia. The boundaries of the port's basin include the River Don from the 3151.0-km stretch, the Koysug River to the receiving Buoy No 1 of Azov-Don Sea Canal, including outer anchorage No. 6 and the Calancea bayou to Dugino stop-over point.
