Zelenodolsk Plant named after M. Gorky launches first serial ship of Project 22100 (photo)
On 1 June 2018, Tatarstan-based Zelenodolsk Plant named after M. Gorky (a company of AK BARS HOLDING) launched the second ship of project 22100 Ocean, named Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, built for the Border Guard Service of Russia’s FSB, says the shipyard.
Admiral Gennady Medvedev, head of the Coast Guard Department , Border Guard Service, FSB of Russia, said at the ceremony that such ships are in demand for the Arctic, Km, Sakhalin and Primorje. He congratulated and thanked the team of the shipyard and the designer for their perfect work.
New generation border guard ship Ocean developed by Central Marine Design Bureau Almaz (Saint-Petersburg) is the first ship of this type tailored in compliance with the requirements of the Border Guard Service under FSB.
This multipurpose ship has a high fighting capacity and can take part in full-scale rescue operations. Is a unique ship with her ice class, speed of 21 knots, cruising range of 12,000 miles and endurance of 60 days. Ocean class ships are supposed to replace ships of projects 1135P and 97P.
Ships of project 22100 "Ocean" are intended for protection of the exclusive economic zone of the Russian Federation. Also they will be able to participate in rescue operations, assist in fighting fires on ships and escort emergency towing vessels in hiding places, to ensure actions of special forces of the Russian FSB to combat piracy and terrorism, prevent smuggling, drug trafficking and illegal migration.
The lead ship of project 22100, named Polar Star, was laid down on May 30, 2012 at Tatarstan-based Zelenodolsk Plant. The flag-raising ceremony was held in Kronshtadt on 17 December 2016. The Polar Star joined Border Guard Service of Russia’s FSB in the Western Arctic District on 28 January 2017.
Tatarstan-based AO Zelenodolsk Plant named after M. Gorky specializes in the construction of warships and passenger high-speed vessels. The enterprise is managed by OOO AK BARS HOLDING.
