Race of the Classics returns to Ipswich Haven Marina with a fleet of historic ctall ships
A fleet of 20 classic sailing ships from the Netherlands has made its way into ABP’s Wet Dock at the Port of Ipswich as part of 'The Race of the Classics,' the biggest student sailing competition in Europe.
ABP says teams from Colleges and Universities across the Netherlands have been participating in the North Sea race featuring classic tall sailing ships for more than 30 years. This year more than 400 students are taking part in the challenge, which set sail in Rotterdam Veerhaven on Monday, 2 April and will end on Sunday, 8 April at Coenhaven in Amsterdam.
Michiel Colijn, Chairman of Race of the Classics, said: “The people of the Ipswich harbour are always very generous and easy to work with. You can really feel the enthusiasm of the Ipswich Haven Marina staff for our event!
“Participants of the Race of the Classics who have been to Ipswich before, for previous editions of the Race, are always enthusiastic about the lovely journey and the marina.”
