Vladimir Putin wins presidential election in Russia with 76.69% of votes
At the meeting held on 23 March 2018, the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation approved the results of the presidential election in Russia: incumbent President Vladimir Putin has been elected for a new period of six years having won the elections with the largest number of votes - 76.69%.
Pavel Grudinin, the candidate for the Communist Party, is the second with 11.77% of votes.
Vladimir Zhirinovsky obtained 5.65%, Kseniya Sobchak polled 1.68%, Grigory Yavlinsky received 1.05%, Boris Titov secured 0.76%, Maxim Suraikin obtained 0.68%, and Sergei Baburin gained 0.65% of votes.
The elected President takes office upon the expiry of a six years period since inauguration of the head of the state who won the previous election. In 2012, inauguration of Vladimir Putin was held on May 7.
