With the plans of the Crimea Bridge builders to the road section of the bridge into operation in May 2018, ahead of schedule, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation is considering a step-by-step arranging of traffic by the new route across the Kerch Strait. According to the Ministry’s press center the first step, immediately after the bridge commissioning, is to open the road for passenger cars and buses to ensure passenger transportation.
Cargo transport is to be allowed in late 2018 as it was foreseen by the schedule.
However, cargo transport involved on construction of the railway section of the bridge will all so be allowed to use the road section of the bridge.
