Throughput of port Ust-Luga up 6% to 16.59 million tonnes in 2M'18
In January-February 2018, the port of Ust-Luga handled 16,590,900 tonnes of cargo (+6%, year-on-year), says Baltic Sea Ports Administration.
Transshipment of dry bulk cargo climbed by 20% to 5,441,600 tonnes including 4,347,700 tonnes of coal and coke (+12%).
Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo was flat, year-on-year, at 10,595,800 tonnes including 4,805,600 tonnes of crude oil (-2%) and 5,381,700 tonnes of oil products (-1%).
Transshipment of general cargo fell by 24% to 108,900 tonnes.
Transshipment of cargoes carried by ferries grew by 21% to 277,400 tonnes.
The port’s container throughput grew by 1.5% to 14,104 TEUs.
In 2017, the port handled 103.29 million tonnes of cargo, container throughput totaled 75,262 TEUs.
Ust-Luga port is situated practically at the border of the Russian Federation and the European Union. The deep water area of the port (17.5 m) together with the approach channel (3.7 km) make Ust-Luga port the only Russian port on the Baltic Sea capable of admitting dry-cargo vessels with the deadweight of up to 75,000 tonnes and liquid cargo carriers with the deadweight of up to 160,000 tonnes.
