Training ship Perekop of RF Navy’s Baltic Fleet enters the Mediterranean waters
The training ship Perekop, the Baltic Fleet, which is on long cruise, has passed the Strait of Gibraltar to enter the Mediterranean Sea, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.
When sailing through the Atlantic Ocean, the crew practised its skills, held a number of exercises including damage control, navigation in area of dense shipping traffic and fishery.
The training cruise commenced on March 1. The more than 500 naval cadets are involved in the signal and navigational training course.
In course of the cruise, the training ship Perekop will sail through four oceans. Her route is laid for the first time along the Northern Sea Route. It is planned that the ship will call at eight foreign and domestic ports.
