Throughput of port Riga (Latvia) in 2M’18 fell by 10% Y-o-Y to 5.48 million tonnes
In January-February 2018, the Freeport of Riga (Latvia) handled 5.483 million tonnes of cargo (-10%, year-on-year). As IAA PortNews was informed by the port authority, coal transshipment fell by 8.4% to 2,002,300 tonnes. Transshipment of oil products dropped by 43% to 781,100 tonnes, wood pellets – fell by 30% to 117,000 tonnes, ore – grew by 27% to 51,400 t.
The Port’s container throughput grew by 5% to 76,188 TEUs.
Passenger turnover increased by 18% to 103,389 including 3,316 cruise passengers (+84.7%).
Freeport of Riga lies on both banks of the River Daugava covering 6.3 hectares. The port’s berth length is 13,800 meters, maximum draft at the berths is 12.2 meters. Up to 80% of the Freeport of Riga cargo turnover is made up of transit cargoes forwarded to or received from the CIS countries. In 2017, the port handled 33,674,700 t of cargo.
