Vostochny Port visited by top officials
JSC “Vostochny Port”, the largest Russian specialized port with hi-tech transshipment of coal and a member of the coal port holding “Managing Port Company", says it was visited by Victor Olersky, the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation & the Head of the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport (Rosmorrechflot); and a delegation of “Rosmorrechflot” & the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Rosmorport”.
The purpose of the visit of “Rosmorrechflot” and “Rosmorport” managers was to be acquainted with the port infrastructure and measures taken by the stevedore to improve the environmental safety of coal transshipment in “Vostochny” Port”. The guests were introduced to the work of the coal complexes and the Phase 3 project of JSC "Vostochny Port" which is under construction.

Evgeny Arekhta, the Chief Engineer of JSC "Vostochny Port", told the guests about the construction progress of the largest private investment project in the Far East – Phase 3 of the specialized coal complex - and the environmental safety measures implemented within the framework of the project. At Phase 3, as well as on the operating coal complex, the purification facilities, the wind protection installations, the transshipment stations sheltered with special canvas, a closed-type building for the rail car dumpers equipped with dust suppression system "dry mist" are provided. The project is scheduled for commercial operation in 2018.
The existing universal production and transshipment complex and plans for its retrofitting were demonstrated to the delegation. At present, a set of measures for the technical upgrading and implementation of environmental measures has been approved: the construction of a wind and dust protection shield, a dust protection complex with the installation of snow blowers, which will operate in summer time to irrigate coal stacks with water, and the acquisition of a vacuum sweeper.
The production processes of JSC “Vostochny Port” are built with the aim of maximizing the efficiency of transshipment and prevention of the environmental impact. “Managing Port Company” and “Vostochny Port” are implementing a long-term plan of measures to improve the environmental safety of coal transshipment. Specialists of the port holding regularly conduct environmental monitoring, control the state of atmospheric air and the water area of the Vrangel Bay, and conduct measurements of the radiation background. Over the past five years, more than 1.2 billion rubles have been invested in the modernization of equipment, treatment plants, wind protection systems, replenishment of sea bioresources, and environmental actions.
In October 2017, Victor Olersky, the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation & the Head of the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport, visited JSC “Vostochny Port” as part of a delegation headed by Maxim Sokolov , the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation.
