JAXPORT’s heavy lift berth offers rail-to-ship service for heavy locomotives
The 68-foot long locomotives arrived at JAXPORT by CSX rail from Illinois. Portus stevedores loaded the locomotives onto the charter vessel Eemslift Dafne using the ship’s onboard cranes. The move was arranged by Houston-based freight forwarder Logistics International, Inc. and the cargo is en route to Guinea, West Africa, the company said in its press release.
JAXPORT terminals are served by three U.S. interstates (I-10, I-95 and I-75) and 36 daily trains via three railroads (CSX, Norfolk Southern, and Florida East Coast Railway). JAXPORT also has the highest and widest cargo clearance available for port access by rail on CSX’s national system.
