Russia’s Glavgosexpertiza gives nod to new phases of ZVEZDA Shipyard construction
Russia’s General Board of State Expert Review (Glavgosexpertiza) issued a positive assurance based on engineering survey results and design documentation for the new phases of the ZVEZDA shipbuilding cluster construction project, Glavgosexpertiza said.
The project includes rebuilding of a deep-water pier, Shallow and Southern embankments on the shipyard territory being built in Bolshoi Kamen, on the coast of the Ussuri Bay.
Hydroengineering structures located on the northern territory of shipbuilding complex are being reconstructed within the ZVEZDA construction stage framework. Upon completion of rebuilding of the embankments that were built back in 1961-1964 the structures will be used to support the construction of sea-going and special vessels.
Shallow water embankment is 189.2 meter long and intended for docking, outfitting of vessels and mooring tests of ships launched with water displacement of more than 3,500 tonnes. The 141.27-meter-long Southern embankment was designed for short-term mooring of support vessels of the shipbuilding cluster.
The reconstruction project includes deepening of embankments waters for future docking and outfitting of launched vessels, as well as the laying of shore power lines and connection boxes / receptacles, installation of a 32-tonne overhead traveling crane, a distribution transformer substation with floodlight towers.
Within the 16th stage / Phase 1st / Stage 1st a deep pier located near the embankments has been reconstructed. It will be used for docking, outfitting and mooring trials of launched cargo ships. The pier, built in the 60s of the 20 century as an outfitting dock, is located between the reconstructed Southern and the designed cargo embankment.
After rebuilding, its total length will extended to 350 meters and width – to 24.5 meters. The pier modernization: it will have new bollards, fenders and 50-tonne gantry cranes, shore power lines and connection boxes / receptacles, a floodlight tower and a new transformer substation. Two existing substations will be dismantled.
In December 2017 Glavgosekspertiza approved the design documentation for the construction of maintenance and primary steel and rolled metal processing, cleaning, painting and drying shops, the warehouses and platforms for Zvezda Shipyard.
