Tokyo MoU Committee starts its work in Vladivostok (photo)
The Tokyo MoU Committee has started working in Vladivostok today, 15 September 2017, with the 11th meeting of the technical work group.
IAA PortNews correspondent says the first day of the Committee’s work was dedicated to technical issues. The meeting was attended by the maritime industry representative from almost 20 APR countries including Australia, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, Republic of Korea, DPRK, Marshall Islands, New Guinea, New Zealand, Panama, Peru, Russia, Singapore, Philippines, Fiji, Chile, Japan.
Among the issues considered at today’s meeting were guidelines to assist in the targeted inspection of cruise ships for Port State Control Officers (PSCOs) where the turnaround time may be limited.
The international event including the 28th Port State Control Committee Meeting attended by Kitak Lim, Secretary-General of IMO, and business forum will last for four days.
The Tokyo MOU was signed in 1993 by 18 countries of the Asia-Pacific Region. At present, the Tokyo MOU consists of Australia, Canada, Chile, China, Fiji, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, the Russian Federation, Singapore, Thailand, Vanuatu and Viet Nam.
