Ship formation of RF Navy’s Northern Fleet reached Laptev Sea
The unit of warships and auxiliary vessels of the Northern Fleet, which is conducting the Arctic March tasks flying the flag of the Commander of the Kolsky Flotilla, has entered the Laptev Sea waters, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.
The march of warships was conducted in column. The icebreaker was followed by the flagship NF Severomorsk anti-submarine warfare destroyer, the Kondopoga major landing ship, the Senezh hydrographic ship, the Sergei Osipov tanker and the KIL-164 AHTS vessel, and the Pamir salvage tugboat.
The route was chosen in a safe distance from the ice field and drifting ice. Air reconnaissance by the Ka-27PS helicopter was conducted before the march.
The ship unit will conduct tactical exercises in the Laptev Sea until it reaches the eastern point –Kotelny Island, where the Severny Klever base is located.
