Amursky shipyard moves corvette Gromky (Project 20380) to outfitting dock (photo)
On 28 July 2017, Amursky shipyard (part of United Shipbuilding Corporation) moved the multipurpose guard ship (corvette) of Project 20380, named Gromky, from the dockyard to the outfitting dock.
According to the shipyard, the ceremony was started with the solemn meeting attended by representatives of Khabarovsk Territory Government, Komsomolsk-on-Amur authorities, RF Defence Ministry, USC, Almaz Design Bureau, officers and seamen of RF Navy’s Pacific Fleet.
According to the statement, Amursky shipyard is main base in the Far East of Russia for construction of warships for the Pacific Fleet.
The Gromky corvette is the second in the series started by the Sovershenny, which was delivered to the Pacific Fleet on 20 July 2017. The Gromky will have the same characteristics and will also be deployed for protecting the coastal waters of Russia’s Far East.
The keel-laying ceremony for the Gromky corvette was held on 20 April 2012 with the delivery scheduled for 2018.
Project 20380 corvettes are designed for littoral sea warfare, e.g. countering enemy surface ships, providing gunfire support to landing operations, etc.
Amursky Shipyard PJSC (Komsomolsk-on-Amur) is among the largest shipbuilding companies in the Far East of Russia. The shipyard was founded in 1936. It can build warships and civil vessels with displacement of up to 25,000 t.

Since its foundation in 1936 it has built more than 300 civil and military vessels including 57 nuclear-powered submarines, 41 diesel icebreakers and 57 surface warships.
In recent years, Amurshy shipyard built nuclear-powered submarine of Project 971 (Nerpa) and six civil ships. Current backlog of orders numbers three corvettes of Project 20380.
The should is working on ice-class supply vessels Ivan Sidorenko and Ostap Sheremet (Project 22420) ordered by Gazflot LLC for servicing semisubmersible drilling rigs.
Amursky Shipyard PJSC is also building two freight/passenger rail ferries of Project CNF11CPD 00300 for Vanino-Kholmsk route (Sakhalin) ordered by State Transport Leasing Company.
United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC OJSC) is the largest shipbuilding company in Russia. It was set up in 2007 with 100% federal ownership. The holding comprises 40 companies and organizations (major shipbuilding and shiprepairing companies as well as leading design bureaus). Currently, USC consolidates the bulk of the domestic shipbuilding complex. The Russian market is the main focus of the state corporation though it also exports its products to 20 countries worldwide.
