Ship owners withdraw vessels from RF flag en masse amid customs’ actions in the South of Russia. Inna Makarova, lawyer at Stepanov and Aksuk (associated office of the Law Firm GRATA International in Rostov-on-Don), head of legal practice in maritime law, customs law and international commerce, told IAA PortNews about practices of Russia’s southern customs. According to Inna Makarova, the problems are caused by customs duties imposed on repair of vessels outside the Customs Union and simulation of administrative violations’ elements, which is a negative judicial practice for businesses.
