Port of Gdansk throughput up 3.6% to 18.57 mln t in Jan-June'17
In January-June 2017, Port of Gdansk (Poland) handled 18,575,254 t of cargo (+3.6%, year-on-year), the stevedoring company says.
Transshipment of grain totaled 507,215 t, general cargo and timber – 7,983,314 t, other bulk cargo (aggregates, sulphur, ore) – 1,622,297 t, coal – 2,094,497 t, liquid fuel – 6,367,931 t.
The port of Gdansk is a major international transportation hub situated in the central part of the southern Baltic coast. Besides handling bulk cargoes (oil, coal, metal, ores) the port provides a number of line services linking it with the ports of the Baltic Sea and Western Europe (primarily ferry, construction and ro-ro lines). In 2016, the port handled 37,288,969 t of cargo.
