Throughput of Commercial Sea Port Yuzhny (Ukraine) in HI’17 down 18.5% Y-o-Y to 6.6 mln t
In January-June 2017, Commercial Sea Port Yuzhny (Ukraine) handled 6.6 mln t, down 18.5%, year-on-year, says the port’s statistics.
Transshipment of export cargo totaled 5.04 mln t (76.3% of total throughput), import — 1.19 mln t (18%), transit and coastal trade cargo — 362,000 t (5.7%).
According to the statement, 97% of the total volume is made by SCM Group’s cargo with import coal accounting for 24%, ore and metal – for 76%.
In the reporting period the port handled 97 vessels, mostly Capesize bulk carriers with deadweight of 170,000 – 200,000 t. Large capacity ships account for 85% of all cargo transshipped via the port.
Yuzhny port is located at the north-western coast of the Black Sea, in ice-free Maly Adzhalyksky (Grigorievsky) estuary, 30 km from Odessa port. The port’s approach channel is 3 miles long and 18.5 meters deep. The port’s major stevedoring company is the state-owned Commercial Sea Port Yuzhny.
