Vympel Shipyard launches fourth Grachonok-class boat of Project 21980
On 22 June 2017, Vympel Shipyard (Rybinsk, Yaroslavl Region) launched yet another anti-terror boat of Project 21980, says the shipyard. The boat is he last in the series of four Grachonok-class boats under construction for RF Ministry of Defence.
Oleg Belkov, Director General of Vympel Shipyard told about possible extension of the series.
“We have managed to launch negotiations with the National Guard on possible construction of four more Grachonok-class boats for protection of the Crimean Bridge. I hope the shipyard can win this competition and extend the series of these beautiful ships,” he said.
Upon completion of the mooring trials the boat will join RF Navy’s Northern Fleet.
Basic characteristics of Project 21980 special-purpose boat: Displacement: 138.69 t; Dimensions: length – 31.04 m, beam – 7.40 m, draft – 1.86 m: Full speed: 23 knots; Operating range: 200 miles; Endurance: 5 days; Crew: 6.
Armament: Igla SAM system, 14.5-mm pedestal machine gun mount, DP-64 and DP-65 grenade launchers.
