Throughput of port Ventspils (Latvia) up 14.4% to 4.5 mln t in Jan-Feb'17
In January-February 2017, the port of Ventspils handled 4.5 mln t of cargo (+14.4%, year-on-year), the port authority says.
Transshipment via Ventbunkers fell by 17% to 1.49 mln t, via Kālija parks – down 1.5 times to 23,000 t, via Ventamonjaks – down 7% to 57,000 t, via Ventplac – down 6% to 74,000 t, via Ventamonjaks Serviss – down 17% to 29,000 t.
Meanwhile, transshipment via Ventall Termināls grew 1.5 times to 312,000 t, via Ventbunkers – up almost 1.5 times to 668,000 t, via Ventspils Tirdzniecības osta – up 12% to 502,000 t, via Baltic Coal Terminal – up 1.7 times to 749,000 t, via Noord Natie – up 29% to 438,000 t.
Transportation of automobiles grew by 36% to 7,500 units. The number of passenger carried by ferry lines grew by 20% to 26,000 passengers.
Ventspils port is located near Venta river. There are terminals for loading and unloading of crude and oil products, liquid chemicals and fertilizers, metal and coal, timber and fish, containers and Ro-Ro trailers. In 2016, the port handled 18.8 mln t of cargo.
