Port of Gdansk throughput up 3.4% to 31.0 mln t in 10M’16
In January-October 2016, Port of Gdansk (Poland) handled 31.0 mln t of cargo (+3.4%, year-on-year), the stevedoring company says.
Transshipment of grain fell by 30.4% to 876,440 t, general cargo and timber up 27.6% to 12.18 mln t, other bulk cargo (aggregates, sulphur, ore) – up 8.1% to 3.15 mln t, coal – up 12.5% to 4.29 mln t, liquid fuel – down 15.3% to 10.50 mln t.
The port of Gdansk is a major international transportation hub situated in the central part of the southern Baltic coast. Besides handling bulk cargoes (oil, coal, metal, ores) the port provides a number of line services linking it with the ports of the Baltic Sea and Western Europe (primarily ferry, construction and ro-ro lines). In 2015, the port handled 35.91 mln t of cargo.
