ZNT Yard lays keels of two large HSVs for Russian Navy (photo)
Nizhegorodsky Teplokhod Shipyard (ZNT Yard) on August 17, 2016 hosted a keel-laying ceremony for two new large hydrographic suvey ships (HSV) of Project 23040G for the Russian Navy, the Ministry of Defense.
The HSVs delivery is scheduled for 2017 after completion of all kinds of sea trials. Another four boats, two units per year, will be built between 2017 and 2018.
The keel-laying ceremony was attended Captain Sergey Travin, Head of Navigation and Oceanography of the Defense Ministry.
The main purpose of the vessel is to perform high-precision 3В seismic surveys of the seabed and the underlying geology for updating nautical charts and service mid-size floating navaids with a weight of up to 2 tonnes and a length of 6.5 meters.
To boost the maneuverability the ship is equipped with two-shaft propulsion and FPPs, bow thruster. The boat is capable of sailing at low speeds of 4 to 6 knots indefinitely.
The survey vessel features state-of-the-art integrated bridge system, bow / stern control panels, providing the skipper with the necessary information. Steering the boat from the aft control room, the master can control work of the deck crew while deploying/removing floating aids to navigation, maneuvering and at the same time monitoring the surface with radar and AIS data displayed on the ECDS monitor.
The boat is equipped with a hydrographic system, including a single/multibeam echosounders, side-scan sonar, high-precision local positioning system (LPS) and tide gauge. Seismic survey equipment is controlled from the post located in the pilothouse.
