Big Port St. Petersburg cuts customs procedures time
Customs authorities at the Big Port St. Petersburg seeking to expedite movement of inbound, outbound and transit cargo across the border slashed overall time of customs formalities, the regional Baltic Customs press office said.
In respect of inbound goods not identified as risky delivery and not requiring additional verification, the customs clearance procedure has been reduced to an average of 1 hour and 59 minutes.
As to outbound goods with the same characteristics the average time of customs formalities is now only 58 minutes.
Concerning inbound goods, identified as risky delivery and requiring additional verification (or customs inspection), the clearance time will take an average of 7 hours and 48 minutes (except the time for moving the cargo from a marine terminal to the customs entry point). The outbound goods, identified as risky delivery, requiring additional inspection, the average time of customs formalities was cut to 3 hours 27 minutes (minus the terminal-customs post delivery time).
In its Executive Decree № 1125-p, June 29, 2012 the Russian Government approved the “road map” of improvement of customs administration. The implementation of this Action Plan to expedite average clearance procedure time in the seaport “Big Port St. Petersburg” has been a priority for the Baltic Customs in recent years, the agency said.
