The Briese Group and Auerbach Schifffahrt form a strategic alliance
The Briese and Auerbach shipping companies have formed a strategic alliance. In the future, both companies will cooperate more closely in the areas of project development and ship management. The goal is to combine the advantages offered by the companies' respective locations and to strengthen the two complementary corporate profiles, the company said in its press release.
As from 1st September 2016, Lucius Bunk - the founder and ongoing executive partner at Auerbach Schifffahrt -will be appointed COO of the board of management at Briese Schifffahrt GmbH & Co. KG.
At the same time, Rafal Mirski will be promoted to the senior management level at Auerbach Schifffahrt. Since joining the company in 2014, he has played a key role in developing the operative shipping arm of the business and will be continuing his work as managing director of Auerbach ship management.

Briese Schiffahrts GmbH & Co. KG based in Leer was founded in 1983 by Dipl. Ing. Captain Roelf Briese. Today, the fleet global activities, which currently comprises around 150 vessels, are taken care of by more than 300 employees ashore and more than 2.400 seamen aboard. The focus of the shipping business is on multi¬purpose and heavy-lift shipping. They offer the full range of the associated complex intermodal transport solutions. Auerbach Schifffahrt GmbH & Co. KG is a shipping company founded in 2010 based in Hamburg. The current fleet consists of 6 modern multi-purpose freighters, which are mainly deployed in the project cargo sector. In 2013 a new building project was initiated in collaboration with the Leer based shipping companies Briese and Krey Schifffahrt. Two ships are currently being built in China. Auerbach Schifffahrt continues to focus on an organic growth strategy by acquiring additional ships and expanding operative shipping activities.
