7M’16 cargo traffic on Azov-Don River Basin IWWs drops 3.3% to 4.68 mln t (expanded version)
As of July 1, 2016 , cargo traffic within the Azov-Don Basin of Russia’s inland water ways declined by 3.3%, year-on-year, to 4.68 mln t, says the Administration of Azov-Don Basin.
In the reported period, transportation of heavy fuel oil fell by 10.9% to 1,564,000 t; sulphur – up 10.4% to 745,000 t; diesel fuel – up 21.2% to 645,000 t.
The number of vessel movements declined by 8.1%, year-on-year, to 2,861.
In July, cargo traffic declined by 1.3%, year-on-year, to 1,479,000 t. Transit fell by 3.5% to 1,205,000 t, internal turnover grew by 9.6% to 274,000 t.
In July, Azov-Don Basin Authority registered 855 vessels including 428 sailing downward and 427 – upward (versus 1,060 in 2015: 517 sailing downward and 543 upward). The decline is attributed to the reduced number of loaded vessels sailing from the ports of the Mediterranean and the Black Sea as well as general reduction of calls.
The depth in July, at the section from the entrance to the 132-th channel to Kochetovsky waterworks was 370 to 400 cm, from Kochetovsky to the 3121-th km stretch of the Don – 350 to 370 cm.
The total length of the waterways in the area of responsibility the Azov-Don Basin Administration is 691.3 kilometers.
