OPDR offers direct connection from Portugal and Gibraltar to Hamburg
Hamburg-based OPDR (Oldenburg-Portugiesische Dampfschiffs-Rhederei) optimized its established CISS service by offering a superb direct connection from Leixões, Lisbon and Gibraltar to Hamburg in only five, six and eight days respectively, the Company’s press release says. Starting this month, the revised service therefore offers excellent transit times while maintaining high schedule integrity.
From now on, the new CISS service also connects the major Portuguese ports of Leixões and Lisbon as well as the Port of Gibraltar with Germany’s busiest port. As opposed to the previous schedule, which offered one direct connection from Portgual to Hamburg, the optimized CISS service provides a wider range of opportunities for customers looking to ship from the Iberian Peninsula to Northern Europe.
Moreover, the revised CISS service underlines OPDR’s plans of reinforcing its activity to and from the United Kingdom: Currently, OPDR offers seven weekly connections from the European mainland to the United Kingdom, three of which are attributed to the CISS service (Hamburg to Tilbury once a week, Rotterdam to Tilbury twice a week). Additional connections from Hamburg and Rotterdam to the United Kingdom (Port of Immingham) are planned for the fourth quarter of the year.
Three ships with capacities of 700 TEU each are deployed on the new CISS service. As usual, this service stresses OPDR’s customer-oriented approach: All deployed ships are equipped to carry pallet-wide equipment and therefore enable customers to ship more goods per container.
Port rotation: Hamburg – Rotterdam – Tilbury – St. Cruz de Tenerife – Las Palmas de Gran Canaria – Agadir – Casablanca – Gibraltar – Algeciras – Lisbon – Leixões – Rotterdam – Tilbury – Hamburg.
