In the 1st half of 2016 Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg increased expenses for environment
In the 1st half of 2016 OJSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (SP SPb, part of UCL Holding) transferred 14.4 mln Rubles for the implementation of environmental campaigns which exceeded by 32.5% the figures for the same period of the last year, SP SPb says in a press release.
Increase was due to the additional expenses for the modernization of water disposal system of the First and the Second areas of the port.
Within the reporting period funds were transferred for the protection of port water area of the Gulf of Finland. In particular regular control of use of coastal area, cleaning and monitoring of waste water were performed.
Besides in the 1st half of this year the company measured air pollution on the border of sanitary protection area. The tests confirmed the compliance of air quality with official standards.
OJSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (included in UCL Port – stevedoring division of the International transportation group UCL Holding) – is the largest operator, rendering services on handling of all types of dry cargoes in the Greater Port of Saint-Petersburg. It operates by modern multipurpose specialized terminals for handling of general and bulk cargoes and specialized terminals for ro-ro cargoes. In 2015 the turnover of the company amounted to 7.9 mln tons.
