Fertoing Ltd. have taken part in the Northern Fleet hydrographic service expedition
From June, 23rd to July, 2nd, Fertoing hydrographer engineer Alexander Sukhov and head of geophysical station Dmitriy Korshunov participated in oceanographic expedition of the Northern Fleet which took place on a large hydrographic boat BGK-2148, Fertoing says in its press release. The main purpose of the expedition was comprehensive survey of the southern part of the Barents Sea as well as search for submarines sunken during the Great Patriotic War.
These studies continued system sharing of experience, technology and work approaches between the Department of Navigation of the Defense Ministry and the training center of Fertoing. During the expedition, the Company engineers organized work training on modern hydrographic equipment and field data quality control for the fellow engineers from the Northern Fleet.
After the first stage of the search expedition, comprehensive Hydrographic Service equipment preparation was carried out, with development and successful testing of techniques previously not applied in Navy Hydrographic Service that allowed clarifying location of the Nazi Germany sunken submarines U-387 and U-307.
It is expected that the second stage of the expedition (in the Bantos-A minefield area and the point where destroyer Gremyashchiy attacked German submarine in 1942) will be carried out this autumn.
The performed joint work was highly praised by the command of the Northern Fleet Hydrographic Service.
